Chennai’s Speed Xerox invests in Xerox Versant 180

Chennai-based Speed Xerox has invested in a Xerox Versant 180 to meet the increasing demand for complex digital print projects and variable data printing jobs. According to V Vaidhyanathan of Speed Xerox, considering that specialty media has become a trend in the market, the company invested in the Versant 180, which can print on a wide range of media types.

Speed Xerox was set up in the Porur area of Chennai in 1996. With over 20 years of experience in the commercial printing, and with two printing facilities, the company today enjoys a relative monopoly in the area.

Other reasons which attracted Vaidhyanathan about the Xerox Versant 180 were the print quality and the SIQA tool concept, which facilitates proper registration and calibration. “Also, the good FSMA, combined with pre-sales and post-sales support we receive from Xerox, further helped making the decision,” he said. “Additionally, we really liked the concept of offsite support, which is a new concept in the printing machine platform.

With the machine, Speed Xerox is now able to serve corporate clients and help other branding companies with their jobs. Vaidhyanathan believes that the machine will boost volume in terms of speed and quality, since it simplifies the jobs by automating registration and colour management with SIQA tool. “We are satisfied with our new mid-production press, as it provides us with a 10-bit platform and various utility applications such as hot folders and virtual folders, fiery go, etc, which, in turn, helps us in easing our printing work,” he said. “Earlier, we faced challenge in colour management. However, the new press has eased the process by fixing the proper fusing temperature.”

Vaidhyanathan and his wife V Malathy run Speed Xerox and service commercial walk-ins and press jobs, especially student walk-in jobs. The clientele also includes a few publishers. The company has a complete colour printing unit, which is supported by monochrome machines. Beside the Xerox Versant 180, the company also has a Canon 6000 series and the latest cutting machines.

Following the investment, Vaidhyanathan said, with the help of the consultation provided by Xerox, the company is planning a few marketing activities to attract customers. He said the cost of printing is one of the major challenges in today’s time. At the same time, Speed Xerox is working towards expanding and opening new branches. “Additionally, we would work towards ensuring that we are updated with the latest technology,” Vaidhyanathan added.
