Kolkata-based digital printing company Speed Print has installed two Xerox Versant 80 printing presses. Vinod Dutia, founder and managing partner, Speed Print, said, “In order to meet the growing demand of good quality products, the Xerox Versant 80 seemed to be the best fit. It is a 2400dpi virtual print production press and has a much better and wider colour gamut. The speed and stability of the machine attracted us.”
Dutia believes it was a sound business decision, as with the Xerox Versant 80, the company is printing on 350gsm paper on regular basis. “Moreover, the machine has opened more avenues and provides us with wider options as far as printing on specialty media is concerned, which we were not able to do until now,” he said.
Speed Print caters to more than 600 customers and offers designing and printing of corporate brochures, calendars, greeting cards, visiting cards, certificates, manuals and other documents. “We expect a minimum of 25-30% growth on our sales within the first year of installation,” said Dutia, adding, “Our printing capacity has increased up to 50,000 prints with two Versant 80 machines.”
Speed Print has two Xerox 550, one HP Latex 310 press in addition to the fabrication and binding presses along with two Xerox Versant 80 machines.
On investing in two machines at the same time, Dutia said, “We have an advantage of putting both the presses in one location, which allows us to switch jobs very easily. One machine is dedicated to print on 90 to 170gsm papers along with specialty paper and the other machine only prints on 250, 300 and 350gsm board. This way we are able to manage print jobs much easier then we used to.”
Up next, Speed Print plans to venture into eCommerce. “Our vision is to become the largest digital print production company of the country by 2025,” Dutia said.
In a single facility, Speed Print prints more than 6,000 sheets per day with the help of 15 people.
